Harbor City | Los Angeles – A rollover crash involving a big rig caused a massive traffic jam on the 110 Freeway Thursday afternoon in Harbor City.
The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m., on the southbound 110, just north of Pacific Coast Highway. A tanker truck swerved off the road and rolled over on its side, just over Vermont Avenue.
The truck driver was rescued and evaluated by authorities at the scene of the accident. An SUV, also involved in the accident, had one person suffer minor injuries. A hazmat crew rushed to the scene when the truck began to spill fuel soon after the crash.
The rollover crash caused traffic on the freeway to be backed up for miles on the southbound side. It forced authorities to squeeze four lanes of traffic into a single lane just to pass the accident.
